1. Drill the Damaged Thread:
Use the included drill bit to remove the stripped thread. For spark plug repairs, a special tap may be used without drilling. Always ensure correct drill size for optimal results.
2. Tap the Hole:
Using the STI tap, create a new thread for the insert. Confirm that the tap thread and pitch match the fastener being used. For smooth operation, a quality cutting oil is recommended.
3. Insert Installation:
Mount the insert on the installation tool and drive it into the tapped hole. Ensure it is seated ½ turn below the surface, providing a secure and flush finish.
4. Tang Removal:
Once inserted, remove the installation tool and break off the tang using the Tang Break Tool or long-nose pliers (for larger sizes). The insert is now ready for use.
